The family Perosio and its action in the Genoese society

The International Association of the Charity (AIC) is the oldest secular association of the history of the volunteerism.

The AIC is at present present in numerous countries of Europe, of the Latin America and of the North America of the Asia and of the Africa.

Its origins go back to 1617, the year in which San Vincenzo de Paoli in Chatillon-les-Dombes (today Chatillon-sur-Chalaronne), for the first time recruited a group of ladies and organized the first initiative of aid to the poor families of the parish.

To this first group and those who followed, San Vicenzo gave the significant name of “Charity”.

After the death of San Vincenzo, Charity was diffused in many countries through the merit of the Prior of the Mission and the daughters of Charity.

Active in Genoa since 1654, its oldest nucleus was in Bogliasco.
